Everything You Need To Know About Mandalika International Circuit

Prabunews.com – The Mandalika Circuit is one of the most beautiful race tracks in the world. This circuit is directly adjacent to a white sand beach in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Kuta Village, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

Before witnessing the big event on the circuit, Here are the things you need to know about Mandalika Circuit.

1. Official Name

The Mandalika Circuit has the official name Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit. The naming of this circuit was carried out through the Signing of the Sponsorship Cooperation Agreement and the Launching of the Official Name of the Mandalika International Racing Circuit in Jakarta, Thursday (07/10/2021).

2. Track

Based on information from the official WSBK website, the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit is designed for 4.3 kilometers or 4,300 meters. The number of corners at the circuit itself reaches 17, with 11 to the right and 6 to the left.

3. Capacity

The Mandalika Circuit accommodate 150 thousand to 200 thousand people. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the management only provided up to 75,000 seats in the grandstand and 138,000 standing areas. However, because it was built on nearly a hundred hectares of land, the Mandalika circuit has many open spaces. It is an opportunity to bring more visitors in the future.

4. Received Three Muri Records

The Mandalika Circuit received three records from the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI). Mandalika Circuit was built by using stone mastic asphalt (SMA) technology which provides a durable road with high level of water absorption. Then, the construction of the first standard circuit Federation Internationale de Motorcyclisme (FIM), and the third is the fastest circuit track.

5. International Race Events

The IATC racing event will be held on November 12-14 and followed by the WSBK race on November 19-21. In addition, the Mandalika Circuit is also included in the MotoGP 2022.

Quoting from MotoGP website, the Mandalika Circuit will be the venue for the Indonesian GP race. The race will be held on March 20, 2022, or a few weeks after the series opener in Qatar on March 6.

Beside that, the Mandalika Circuit will also be the location of the MotoGP pre-season test. Based on the schedule issued by the MotoGP, the Mandalika Circuit will be the location of the pre-season test on 11-13 February 2022.
